Public Lecture: Expert Talks – Professional Ethics in Counseling Services

Yogyakarta, February 19, 2025 – On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, the Master’s Program in Islamic Guidance and Counseling (BKI) at Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University hosted a public lecture titled “Expert Talks: Professional Ethics in Counseling Services”. The event took place at the Theatrical Hall of the Faculty of Da’wah and Communication, featuring two distinguished speakers: Natri Sutanti, M.A. (Alumnus of the University of Nottingham and Lecturer in Guidance and Counseling at Yogyakarta State University) and Dr. H. Muhsin, S.Ag., M.A., M.Pd. (Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Da’wah and Communication). The lecture aimed to provide students with a deeper understanding of professional ethics in counseling services, particularly for those in the field of Islamic Guidance and Counseling. The speakers addressed key aspects of ethical codes, challenges in counseling practices, and strategies to enhance professionalism in client services. The event attracted students and faculty members who showed great enthusiasm in exploring the topic. A dynamic interactive discussion allowed participants to ask questions and share experiences related to ethical issues in counseling.

The Head of the Master’s Program in Islamic Guidance and Counseling, Moh. Khoerul Anwar, S.Pd., M.Pd., Ph.D., expressed his appreciation for the speakers and the active participation of students. “We hope this event provides valuable insights for students to implement professional ethics in their future counseling practices,” he stated. This public lecture is expected to broaden participants' perspectives and help them apply professional ethics in various counseling fields, including education, community services, and social work.
